THE PASSION ACCORDING TO JOHN: Chapters 18 & 19
Following the success of the virtual Lent presentations, Prof Mary Coloe is presenting an additional session exploring the Passion narrative according to John's Gospel.
John presents a completely different interpretation of the death of Jesus on the Cross.
In John, the Cross is the moment of exaltation and triumph. Jesus brings his mission to completion and announces, “It is finished.” Poor translations, and confusing all the Gospels, can hide the rich beauty of John’s presentation.
Join Mary Coloe on the evening of Tuesday March 30 for something you have never heard before!
Please bring your bible.
Prof Mary Coloe PBVM, a world recognised expert on the Gospel of John and author of the Friendly Guide to John's Gospel, will draw out the significance and meaning of the Gospel readings as they appear each Sunday in Lent.
During this season of Lent, we have been fortunate to have four Australian biblical scholars at Yarra Theological Union, a College of the University of Divinity, guiding us through an exploration of the readings for each week. The videos for each of these sessions can be viewed below.
