Start With Your Heart is an unique Literacy and Religious Education resource that introduces Catholic and Christian faith to young readers. It has been levelled for the appropriate age group in both literacy and faith development.
The series designed to enable teachers and students to develop a deeper appreciation of God, already present in their lives, by reading together and engaging in Christian dialogue.
The levelled texts develop students’ religious language and personal understanding of their relationship with God, Jesus, other people and the world around them. Students will also advance their conceptual understanding through oral discussion around the Christian themes.
The series is grounded in scripture and presents theology in a contemporary form.
Levelled Texts
The texts are levelled according to both reading ability and cognition of Christian concepts. Carefully selected images reflect contemporary life to support dialogue and personal responses within the various themes.
Educator’s Guides
The Educator’s Guides explore themes within the texts through a combination of literal, inferential and ‘wonderings’ questions. Each Educator’s Guide presents a replica of the text with supporting questions and tasks.
