The Other Voice contains a collection of homilies and addresses delivered by Archbishop Mark Coleridge in the later years of his time as Archbishop of Brisbane. They were busy years in which he did not have the opportunity to write books or lengthy articles, but in fact he wrote a great deal – many homilies and addresses outlining themes central to his teaching of Scripture, highlighting their relevance to the everyday realities of life. In the Preface, he notes:

“Whatever I have said or written comes from my experience of listening, with more or less attention, to the voice of God, who communicates ceaselessly. In that sense, I have no words of my own to offer; if I did, they would not be worth offering in this way. My hope is that, through the silence of my listening and the words rising from that listening, some echo of that Other Voice may be heard in these pages.”

Archbishop Mark Coleridge served as Metropolitan Archbishop of Brisbane from 2012 until his retirement in September 2025. During that time, he also served as President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.
