In the first part, he recounts the names by which the faithful addressed their Lord. In the second, he traces from their writings the method of continual prayer taught and practiced by eastern ascetics

Irénée Hausherr, SJ, (1881-1978) was a Jesuit of Alsatian origin and specialist in Greek patristic and monastic spirituality.
